Eleven-Step Pranayama – “OM SUVAH”

In the previous article titled “Eleven-step Pranayama – OM BHUVAH”, we discussed the second step i.e.,  the mental plane of existence.

In this article, we will discuss the third step or the third level of existence – i.e., “ सुवः (OM SUVAH)”.

SUVAH indicates the outer-space and the inter-connected mental plane of existence!

Ascending to the Alternate Mental Plane: The Power of “Om Suvah”

Once we have explored the depths of our own mind, we can venture into the vast expanse of the collective consciousness. This realm, known as the alternate mental plane, is a dimension where all sentient beings of the cosmos, are interconnected.

The Interconnectedness

The cosmos, a magnificent tapestry woven with threads of consciousness, is a symphony of interconnected beings. Each being, from the smallest microorganism to the largest celestial body, plays a unique role in this cosmic orchestra. The alternate mental plane is the stage upon which this divine drama unfolds, a realm where all of the sentience is united in a harmonious dance of existence.

By tuning into this plane, we can transcend the boundaries of our individual consciousness and experience sentience in all of creation. We can feel the interconnectedness of all beings, the shared consciousness that binds us together. This experience can be incredibly transformative, allowing us to develop a deeper sense of empathy, compassion, and love for all things.

The Role of “Om Suvah”

The mantra “Om Suvah” is the key to unlocking the secrets of the alternate mental plane. When we chant this mantra, we:

Expand Our Awareness: We transcend the limitations of our individual consciousness and connect with the cosmic sentience.

Develop Empathy: We cultivate a deeper understanding and compassion for all beings.

Attune to Cosmic Rhythms: We align ourselves with the natural rhythms of the universe.

From the daily cycle of sunrise and sunset to the celestial dance of planets and stars, the cosmic rhythms permeate every aspect of existence. From the smallest particle to the largest galaxy, everything in the cosmos is interconnected and synchronized with this universal rhythm. The celestial dance of planets and stars, governed by the laws of gravity and celestial mechanics, creates another layer of cosmic rhythm. The cycles of the moon, the movement of the planets, and the alignment of celestial bodies all have a profound impact on our planet and its inhabitants.

By attuning ourselves to these cosmic rhythms, we can align our own internal clock with the natural flow of the cosmos. This harmonious alignment will bring about a profound sense of peace, balance, and well-being.

The deity:

In Vedic tradition the deity for this mantra is “Aditya or Surya”

According to Sri Aurobindo Surya is the supreme Light of the Truth, representing the divine knowledge that dispels ignorance and illuminates the path to spiritual awakening.

It is the light that enables us to see beyond the limitations of our minds and perceive the true nature of reality.

By consciously uttering “Om Suvah,” we invoke “Surya” and elevate our consciousness to a higher level of existence. We become attuned to the cosmic sentience which is ubiquitous and hiding in plain sight.

In the next article, the fourth step “OM MAHAH” will be discussed.
